Easy to use
Handy app that allows me to keep up with what my son's football and rugby teams are up to. Notifications of events and ability to set your attendance are very handy. No fuss and easy to use.
Too many adverts
I get that developers have to make money but the number of ads on InstaTeam is pretty annoying and way more than the competitors apps, plus the price to get rid of them is excessive and again significantly more than the competition. Otherwise it’s ok

Like the premise of the app, but I don’t love the app. Whenever I make a change to an event, members get a notification that is very confusing. It adds a date stamp with the day I changed the event, but the time is like 7 hours ahead of the time when I made the change. It’s very confusing for parents and athletes.

Glitches Galore
Our entire team is having issues with receiving notifications. Some of us are having issues getting messages at all. This has left our children to show up to practices with no coach because we were never relayed the message of a cancelation. That app is causing a lot of problems and it’s extremely frustrating.

Works, but clunky and too many ads
This app is functional and no more or less so than the other alternatives out there but the UI is very clunky, setting up payment options is a little convoluted. The main complaint is that the ads have become extremely obtrusive. Obviously the app is ad supported and there is the option to remove ads but the extend that ads are shown is significantly more than other ad supported applications I have used. From being an Instateam user for several years I can say that the use of ads used to be more balanced and is much worse now. It makes the app almost impossible to use and not easy to recommend.

PHISHING SCAM ALERT
Downloaded for my kids soccer. Deceptive ad on the bottom of the app screen got me with a “start” button that looked legit. It immediately asked for my credit card info. The redirect also looked pretty close to the app design too. But it was a pretty clever ploy for my PII. Too clever for the app makers not to know. I will NEVER EVER use this app again.

I cannot express enough joy of having this app. It’s great and easy to use. I’ve been using it for over 4 years and highly recommend it. I love it.
Worst app in history if team apps
It is difficult to join and it is a loop of horror trying to get my wife on. It keeps trying to ask for a credit card and gps and does not let her in.

Best free sports app
I heard about this app on NJ Soccer group page. I was a little hesitant about it because they said it was free ( nothing is free ) but I tried it. This app is totally free and it’s just like teamsnap. I no longer have to have parents ask me when is practice, when do we have games, where are the games. All information is on the app. Thank you Instateam

Why Insta team is amazing
I was skeptical of InstaTeam in the past, but it just makes it so easy to give and receive information to and from teammates and coaches. Love the app.

Parents and coaches—over billing and no customer service
I have been trying to contact someone there to cancel our subscription until the season starts up again. Unfortunately no response. Parents and coaches, beware that this app has no real customer service. You might have to go to your bank to fight the charge even after cancellation. This is a big headache. The app might have some benefits (remove those Temu ads) and messaging, but the hidden customer service, no response to feedback to parent suggestions, and charging after subscription ended makes me wary of using the app every again. Apple cannot help here. You have to pay through the site and that should’ve been the first red flag. There are alternatives out there with good user experience.

It helps a lot, so my son and my daughter can connect with the friends without having the phone number in. It is very safe and it helps me connect to my kids as coaches and it helps to let me know when they have a game.

Best sports managing app I have seen with one flaw
This is a great app, however, I have asked for a “like” “unlike” option to team messages from the coach, two years ago, but no change. Coach doesn’t want replies, he just wants an acknowledgment that the player agrees or disagrees.
You have this feature in the “chats” which is great. Please add it to the “team message “. I want to continue using this app, but that one feature is a huge problem.
Also, sometimes the notifications are not sent to the players. This seems buggy.
LOVE this app!! As USER-FRIENDLY as it comes!!
I cannot rave enough about this app! Our school usually uses Shutterfly Share Sites and they seem to be confusing for every party involved and only allow the parents access. This gives coaches, parents, and teammates involved. Allowing multiple parents per child, in app payments for anything the parents may need to make payments for: dues, registration fees, jerseys/uniforms, etc. You are able to track payments or other items that are due like documents or physical forms. You can also post documents for the parents or players to download. The app allows messages to be sent to parents, team players, or both. Gives your team a social media thread that players, coaches, and parents have the ability to post on, and you are able to like and comment on each post. All parties are able to share photos with everyone as well. You can post you game schedule as well as other events and practices. There is much more you can do but these are my favorite capabilities. I’ve had compliments on the app as well as another coach saying they may switch to this app because of the user friendly design.
Sync issues with messaging
I have a paid version for my whole team. My parents have told me before that they do not get the messages but I thought they just aren’t looking or have push notifications off.
Now I have noticed not getting notifications and when I open the app, it still doesn’t show anything, my wife got a message from another admin and over 24hrs later I still don’t have it.
Support is none existing. I’ve emailed the 2x before and have not gotten any responses.
Time to move on to another sports management application.

I realize that with a free version, you expect ads but the ads that come up whenever you respond to a notification are not only invasive (they are all full screen and, more often than not they have some sort of auto play video with sound) but some of them are also political. I’ve never seen a ad supported app with more obnoxious ads. I’d pay for the add free team option for my organization but that caps out at 50 team members.

Edit 8/10/20: Just received the Dev response. The app is nearly useless with the ads. If you want a paid app, make it a paid app, not an ad-filled wreck that prevents you from being able to use the app in the first place, unless you fork over a subscription to make it useable. This is seriously just a gimmick to get people to download under the guise of “free”, but handcuffing them until they pony up. 90% of my time in this app is spent counteracting ads. I stand by my original review, below. ————————— Do yourself a favor, use GroupMe and GameChanger and skip this junk. App tries to do the job of both of those but doesn’t do either well, and unless you pay (the others are free!) you have to wait for an ad to do anything. Message from team? Open app - ad. Open app and want to see next event - ad! My app has also had a selection of just two ads, on of which doesn’t even offer a close button, so I am forced into an open app-ad-close app-reopen app circle every time I need to do anything. Useless if you need to send a fast message because of this. Avoid.

I’m a little surprised to not see as many 5 star reviews. I have been using this app to manage my travel basketball organization with 4 teams for 2 years now. I LOVE this app! It helps keep me organized with game times, players, communicating with players’ parents, and monthly player fees. The ads have never bothered me. If I’m using any app for free, I expect to see ads. Nothing unusual about that or about closing out the ads. The ads pop up only once when you first open the app and maybe lasts about 5 seconds. (But after reading the reviews, I chose to purchase the subscription so that my team parents don’t have to wait for ads to be shown.)
The app is also very easy to use unlike some of the other team apps out there. My daughters play other sports that are managed by other apps and this one is by far the best! Just saying...
I tried 3 other team management apps before I found Insta Team and can say that I am completely satisfied with all of its features and ease of use. As a director it is very important to keep everything organized and I am able to do that easily. My team parents all love it too as it keeps them up to date with everything!

Excellent Tool for Recruiting
In today’s day and age this is an absolute must have! It is extremely user friendly and an excellent way for the college coaches to see your players in action. I absolutely love how you can see the archived games. It’s also brought the advantage that colleges have in being able to scout other teams as well as see your own players weaknesses. I’m very pleased at the designers attention to detail and openness to suggestions. Best app out there for integrating live game feeds as well as scoring for everyone.
Soooo many ads
I have multiple kids playing multiple sports. I also coach. And for all those teams, I have seen many “team manager” apps. So from my comparison of them, this one is at the bottom of my list for one reason. Ads. Tons of ads. I get it. Apps cost money, and this one is free...like my 12th cup of coffee. Trust me...nothing is free. You just pay in different ways. Just try your own comparison. All the good reviews of this app cite features that almost all of the competing apps have, too, so it doesn’t set itself apart there. But compared to those other apps, the time spent having an ad shoved in your face is noticeably higher with InstaTeam. For me, it’s past inconvenient and moved into aggravating to see a new 10-second ad every 3 clicks (or less). If you’ve got lots of time and patience, then by all means enjoy InstaTeam. For me...there are better alternatives out there.
Constant request for gps data
I like the app. Seems to do a decent job so far of managing a swim team. The ads are annoying - it’s unclear if you have any option but to click on them to proceed. They seem to time out but they are generating clicks unethically. The app constantly asks to enable gps data. You can’t look up a team in an area by name. They ask for gps data or you have to manually place a pin on a map. I’d like to think that’s just innocent trying to add a cute helpful feature but seems much more likely that their advertisers want location data constantly which is very valuable. I haven’t enabled it yet (and looking down below I notice they haven’t provided apple yet with data on privacy practices) so extremely low trust (hence the rating).
Great and very useful app
I’ve only been using this app for a few months and in the beginning it started just as an app to see our schedule of games and practices. That in itself is awesome because it makes a lot of sense the way it works, it’s very simple. I’m an athletic trainer and I am responsible for collecting forms that we have people sign digitally and there’s a way to do that on this app as well. The customer service has been excellent and it really help me to understand how to use this to the fullest extent. I highly recommend it and look forward to using it.
Not intuitive, ads every time you open
The fact that it’s free earned it the second star. There are better apps available for youth sports teams. Finding postings, messages, etc. is not intuitive. The messaging function is clunky and limited. And every time you open the app, you have the pleasure of staring at some random advertisement while you hunt for the “X” to close the ad. In the hundreds of times I’ve opened the app, I can’t tell you what a single ad is for because all I do is look for the “X”. I understand free apps require ads to stay in business, but use a different system. Thankfully, only one team we’ve been on uses this app. Not recommended.
Not great, ads free version too expensive
I find this app clunky to navigate to find the information I’m looking for, which is not helped at all by the ads popping up while switching between every section of the app. I use this for two different teams which makes it even less user-friendly. The ads-free version is not at all cost effective for the length of my kids’ seasons, hence why I avoid using the app because the ads are ridiculous. If this is actually designed for use by sports teams, the “Events” section should be able to distinguish between practices and games easier. All in all, I pretty much hate using this app and hope my kids’ teams choose a more user-friendly app next season.
So many features
I am a team parent and use Instateam to communicate with other parents and send team messages. We have also used it for fundraising by creating payment items, and it is unbelievably easy for parents to contribute. So many other features which makes this app awesome. Very much recommend it.

It seems every third click pops up an ad that has the X cleverly concealed (but not invisible) and time-restricted so you can’t click it until it gets so far. This is nonesense for parents who are on the run and trying to balance their child’s schedule with their own. I wouldn’t pay to upgrade-we’ll just find a different app.
5 Stars Excellent
Love this app. Simple to use and keeps me informed about the social events for our group. We organize all our club activities using Instateam. We recently started using payment items feature which has nade life so simple as the members can pay using creditcards and we dont need to collect cash etc. Very nice app.
Awesome app
I started using this app about a year ago as a parent. What a life saver. Our coach loves it and made us download it. I was skeptical in the beginning, but once I started using it, I got hooked. I have now taken charge of many things such as refreshments, carpool and even posting real time score. I love it.

Our school uses this app and it has been a great experience. Now I get reminders for all games and with the team messages I don’t miss any communication. Really like the social feature to share photos. Simple and easy to use. Highly recommend it.
All what a team needs
I find it’s amazing especially team events reminders and the ability to communicate with coaches and other parents. Snacks, live coverage, are also very useful. He only con is the number of ads but that’s expected for a high quality and free app.
X-rated ads?
It’s OK to have Wish as an advertiser, I suppose. But please tell them to only put images of PG swimsuits. The ads are not appropriate for a youth sports team website.

Pretty good app
This app is a great way for my teams to connect without clogging up our text feeds. Too many ads, though. I don’t know if there’s an ad-free Pro version. I guess I should look into that.
Good functionality, bad ads UI
The app functions well enough but the ads take over the app so much that you can’t navigate. Basically, they force you into a click. None of the content of any ads so far has been of any value to me. I don’t know why they’re targeting senior citizens with this considering most parents aren’t senior citizens but I guess it is what it is.
Clunky UI
I find the app clunky to use and the ads annoying similar to other reviewers. The messaging functionality is confusing. I posted a message to the team and saw new messages from the other parents in the message board, but the app just repeated my message under everyone else’s name. Makes no sense. The ads pop up all the time and the ‘X’ to close it is under more click bait stuff.
MOBILE APP: Weekly view option?
Love it just wish the mobile app had a condensed upcoming week view versus just 2 days at a time. Too much detail I wish I could collapse it to just show the when and where and attendance

Very helpful
Loved it for my middle school basketball team, it made it very easy to make sure everybody is on the same page. I’ve had many parents compliment the app too. Definitely recommend the app for all teams.
Unnecessary Location Request
I hate this app. My kid’s sport team uses it, but the pop-ups are unbearable. It constantly reminds me that I haven’t shared my location with the app - this is intentional, why does this app need access to my location? I’m also irritated by the advertisements, but since this is not something I would choose to use, I deal with them to avoid paying any type of upgrade fee.

The ads are a pain to get around and I was going purchase the ads free option however it is 3.99 every 3 months, which for an app is ridiculous. You should have a set price period for the app itself that gets rid of the ads. Other than that I like the app a lot

Highly annoying that every time I click on the inbox to read team messages that dirty ads pop up. Read that this app is for 4years and up? The 3 ads I saw were sexually suggestive and highly inappropriate. Buy the app subscription so you and your child can avoid seeing rotten material.
