Review Highlights
TeamSnap is awesome!
I LOVE TeamSnap! I use it for my travel soccer team, and this always lets me know when I have any games, practices, or anything else. It even lets you know where an activity is taking place, which is awesome. There is even a group chat if you need to let your team know about something. Get this if you want to be posted on team updates!
“Mediocre” Free w/Adds
I agree with most positive reviews from Team Owners, Organizer’s, and especially Coaches. But as a parent, or guardian of a player or team member, it comes with multiple frustrations. Switching between profiles, (changes randomly) and adding multiple teams or merging other teams to the same profile is problematic.
But with all free apps, the adds are my biggest complaint. Particularly the ones with a “Fake X” that lures you to click on to close only to be fooled into opening the add, thus generating false positives that line their pockets with $$$.
I highly disapprove Team Snap! 😡
……thank you!…..
Thank you for bringing back the orange dot!!
Ad issues
The ads have gotten ridiculous. You press the X and it takes you to the App Store. One thing I used to appreciate about this app was that the ads were minimal and short! Trying to click out of an ad AND the App Store in the middle of a game and trying to keep score is super inconvenient!
Subscription fraud
Your ads are very intrusive. I have the ad-free plan and your app “conveniently” forgets about my subscription constantly. So, I get loads of ads until I tell it to restore my subscription. Feels like you’re committing fraud!
Miserable
Just a miserable experience. If you enjoy watching an add or clicking on a link when you tap on a X to close an add then this is the app for you. Your other option is to pay a monthly fee. I understand that the app needs to generate revenue to keep running but the user experience suffers.
The Ads are OUT OF CONTROL
The ads on this app have gotten really ridiculous. They pop up every 2nd or 3rd move you make. Sometimes they won’t disappear and I have to force close and reopen. Really not enjoying this app after using it for many years.
Horrible
Constant ads deliberately obnoxious to try to force you to go ad free so the app becomes tolerable. Beyond that poorly designed GUI. This app SUX.
Don’t use
Do not use this app, customer service is horrible and even after deleting and asking them to remove all information you will still get charged. Then they do not want to refund your account even with pictures of the charges they charged you after deleting your account. Do not use this app, it is a mess and you’ll have to change all your bank information just to keep from being charged ever again from them, definitely not worth using this app.
Egregious ad placement
Navigating this app is a nightmare purely because of the amount of ads and pop ups. The interface exists only for ad placement and user friendliness was never a consideration during the design process
Good idea too many adds
This app is flooded with adds and makes it unusable at times. If you want add free you have to pay a monthly fee which seems high for the minimal service it provides. The adds make this app not as useful as it could be and it makes trying to navigate my child’s team information impossible at times.
Frustrating
This app locks up all the the time. It is slow. Kicks me off CarPlay. I dread anytime I get a notification because it is just going to lock everything up.
What happened?!
App used to work great. No my game scores are resetting, screen goes blank, clock resets to 00:00… it’s garbage
Ads annoying
Difficult to use - ads are super annoying, they hide the X to close the ads. And the ads are irrelevant.
No Value to this App
This is one of the most worthless apps I have seen in a while, it almost makes me want to tell my kid to quit the sport rather than have to use it for a season. It had constant or spams your email to subscribe but there is literally nothing you’re getting except them promising to spam you less? I’m sure there are others but GameChanger does everything this does and more, better. I can’t say enough bad things, it’s so useless, meeting invites and a group text would be better for team organization.
Awful
So many ads. Anytime I need info in team snap quickly and ad pops up. The ads are purposely hard to close. Just an awful app
Horrible app anything is better
Dig
Make this easier
We love TeamSnap, however, it is a real pain when you have to create a new chat every time a new person is added to the team. Or create a new chat when the team changes at all. You should be able to add remove members to an existing chat.
Love the app!! Would great to fix the chat features
I love using this app for my sons’ travel team…the only thing is the chat feature.
Whenever we need to add a player’s family member an entirely new chat has to be created, which is really frustrating. We have considered as a group going to a different platform entirely just because of how frustrating this lack of adding or subtracting people into a chat.
Ads, ads, and more ads
So many pop up ads that I can’t wait to close the app almost as soon as i open the app.
Sport
Very helpful for high school sports!
Terrible terrible update regarding ads.
Seems to just get worse and worse. Full screen ads that are timed. Terrible. Been using Team Snap for years. I understand the ads v pay for no ads model. The ads model should still be functional without full screen ads. Sell outs. I really really really can’t say enough terrible things about the ads now. So disappointed.
Sooo many ads
It is an app. It does not need ads.
Good App
Worked well and easy to use
The ads are OUT OF HAND
There are now way too many ads and they are not all age appropriate. It's incredibly frustrating.
More advertising than team communication
The advertising on teamsnap has been getting progressively worse. There are now ads that don’t even offer a close button and you have to exit the app and come back in. This isn’t just for the free version of the app as our team has paid for it. There is no reason for the amount of interruption that is happening with this app.
Ads
One of the better sports apps but some of the ads are very annoying and scammy - Just got one that looked like a virus warning pop up.
Just Gets Worse
Find another app for managing teams. It is just ad after ad. If you need info it just magicay finds a way to make you watch the ad with no way to close it. You have to completely close the app and re-open it if you don't want to sit there for 20 seconds to see something you have no intention of ever buying. But hey, for the bargain price of paying a ton of money you don't have to. It's ridiculous. An ad at the bottom of the page or as a banner, fine. But don't make people sit through full screek nonsense. We have stuff to do.
Doesn’t work
This app is horrible. It is not user friendly. Why does it keep asking for payment when I don’t need to pay. Why is there freaking commercials when all I want is to get the info for my kids schedule only for the schedule to be completely wrong. My does it make my kid the parent instead of me and why won’t it let me fix it!
The Ads Ruin This Otherwise Useful App
Unstoppable, unskippable ads completely ruin this app. As a coach, trying to run a tight ship, and organize during slow times at work, this app fights me at every turn. I don’t get paid to coach, so I am not buying premium. Blasting me with 1-2 minute ads that take me out of the app, to a website or store, is quite frankly ridonculous.
So many ads
I've used TeamSnap for years and I feel like this year they are piling on the ads. Most of them for stupid stuff too.
Horrible App
Very unusable, the ads are very intrusive, I don’t write reviews unless it’s very terrible or very good. This is very terrible.
Literally the worst app
This app has so many glitches that it is a pain to use. Messages don’t come through all the time. I find myself having to logout or uninstall and reinstall or power off and on my phone to get messages. Things don’t update like they should. I’ve tried all the fixes. I will never use this for another team. Many of the people on our team have the same issues and there doesn’t seem to be a fix.
View by number
Would be great, in the roster view, to see the number with the name (instead of the position).
Ex: Joe Smith - 26.
User friendly software
Very use to use and the app is very well organized.
Valuable Tool for Youth Sports
TeamSnap provides timely information from coaches to players and parents. Recently, the field we were playing on was different from the address in TeamSnap Schedule. The Chat feature allowed parents to communicate with each other to reroute parents heading to the other site down the road.
Worst of the sports apps
We have 5 kids in multiple activities and use many apps. This app is filled with ads. There are so many better apps to manage sports teams. I dread when this app is used. I would rather pay for the app than use this app.
Ads Are Obnoxious
I understand needing to advertise, but the mechanism in which the ads are served is absurd UX. Tapping the close button sends you in a loop to restart the ad… There’s no indication of how long an ad will display for… and they pop up and block the full screen multiple times a session. Manipulative and obnoxious.
Paid “Ad-Free”….?
Paid Ad-free… still has ads.
Devs obviously dont use their own app
Basic functionally is there as a parent and coach but usability is sub par. Simple things like checking messages if you have multiple kids on teams is like a 50 click process and u never know when you’ll get hit w that ad :/
I’m honestly just waiting for a better app to come along, and when one does, this one will limp along w teams that just don’t know any better.
Good app but the ads…
Been using this app for years both as a coach and parent. Recently the ads have become excessive. Every time you open the app, even just to quickly check something (ex., practice location or time) a full screen, timed ad interrupts what you’re doing. I really do like the app and hoping developers consider scaling the ads back a bit. It’s becoming unusable.
Ads lately- inappropriate!!
Lately ads have been inappropriate. It’s not my feed, so what’s up with that. I’m just a soccer mom!
Aggressive ads
They recently made a change and the ads they are displaying are incredibly intrusive and obnoxious. You have to watch them for a length of time, close them multiple times, and they use sound even if your device sound is turned off. They are the same ads that you see on those horrible free games. I wouldn’t think a reputable app would need to result to these types of ads.
It's great
It’s really great!
Horrible - Way too many ads
The ads are TERRIBLE, they pop up at the worst times and make use of the app horrible. They do this on purpose to try to force people to pay to have the ads removed. Coaches and teams please stop supporting this horrendous app and company.
Bad
Too many ads. The monetizing is crazy
Terrible
Absolute worst login experience ever it’s so confusing and frustrating and the app is terrible
Pop up ads
So many pop up ads it’s almost unusable. I have to use this for my son’s soccer team. Some of the ads make it where I have to close the app and start over. I’m not paying for a piece of junk app, just so I can see my sons soccer schedule
Wasted time
I’ve spent countless hours wasted on this app. It’s too difficult to manage your profile. And if you have two separate emails that you use, it’s a special form of disaster
Great Concept... how kids still have so many quirks?
This could be the new standard for coaches and teams but many quirks and unintuitive features hold it back. 1. I’ve entered the location of the games, yet on the map it still says address not located but the pin and the math is exactly the address I just put in. Totally confusing parents. 2. Inside of the app, in the email section, I cannot reply to an email. Is this intentional? Should I be replying through my Gmail or Hotmail account? I’m not sure?!?!? 3. The attendance feature is apparently not activated. Apparently the team “creator “has to set this up. Not sure if it is a paid service??? 4. I don’t understand what ends up on the Home screen. The schedule seems to be solid but sometimes there is missing information on the Home screen for next games, practices, etc. This is totally confusing parents. I’ve had to tell them to skip the Home screen altogether and just click on the schedule.
When parents can’t depend on something, it is scary how quickly they will abandon it. I would fix these, and the other issues mentioned in these numerous reviews quickly before I create my own app and take over your business!!! You’ve got more work to do than just changing out the Air filter!
Messaging needs work
This would be an amazing app and an easy 5 star review IF the developers would make some easy fixes to the messaging. First, there is no reason to have so many different options for communication. Just have one team chat function. The chat function is what allows managers and coaches to put something out and players and parents to respond. The others are not even needed. The alert function works for putting out last minute information but no one can respond to it. They have to then move the conversation into the team chat if they need to respond. Also, the notification function of the team chat is horrible. Our team is getting notifications approximately 30% of the time when someone sends a chat message. Also, add the app icon badge that lets you know when a chat message has been sent. That’s the easiest way to know you have a message. Make the team chat a one stop for all collaborative communications and this app would be perfect. If the “alert” is such an important function, add the ability to mark a chat as urgent and you have the same functionality but it is all in one place. These are easy changes and unless the communication features are improved, I will be encouraging my fellow coaches to seek a better app for managing their teams.
Difficult to use and no service to help
Household invitations from a household organizer are sent via email. Household invite clicks on the link and forwarded to login in prompt. If invite creates an account and searches for invitation the result is “sorry unable to find invitations” . If invite logs in with household organizer user name and password they see the organizers invitation — no way to accept by invite to household. An endless un useful circle. All self help articles do not address household adds, only how to add to team. Found a self article on their site regarding a family member and the link is broken not working. Chat with a rep is hours long wait. Email is faster but will respond in a “couple of hours”. No response as of yet..
App is not intuitive and lacks user directions and instructions.
Team invitation process is just as un useful. Team invitations never arrive in junk mail or inbox. When searching for invitation on team snap site on laptop or app using your registered email for the team that includes all emails of the household joining / registered it prompts a message that it recognized your email but no invitation has been sent after multiple invitations have been sent!
We’ve spent six days 2-3 hours a day trying to fix the issue with no help from team snap.
Intentionally deceptive to take your money
I have been using TeamSnap for years both as a parent and as a coach. As a coach, this spring, I want to add availability options so I could see who is going to be there. I upgraded my account in April. the season just ended, and I wanted to downgrade my account for lack of the need to check availability. I went in the application and looked at account/subscriptions. It did not show that I had any subscriptions or memberships. I thought that was weird, but that was what the account screen was showing. This morning I woke up and saw a charge for the monthly fee on my account. I looked around and realized that you had to log into the website on a browser in order to see the memberships. oh, and of course they won’t refund even though it happened this morning. Why wouldn’t they put that information in the mobile app which is what people use 99% of the time? This is completely deceptive. The fact that they don’t refund even though it is clear I have not used the app for the availability purpose (just updated today) is absolutely ridiculous and clearly trying to take advantage of people. I am going to look elsewhere when it comes to tracking my own personal team. I will not give them another cent.
The best - except
This app is the best IMO of the apps like this to help with sports teams. Things just work properly - you can put directions to the games and it links to maps, you can put in schedules and the chat has full feature functionality unlike some alternatives.
However, the monetization in this app is greedy and gross. If we did things the way the app is designed, we’d be paying multiple dollars per month, per team. Not to mention a few more on the team member end just to get rid of ads. Considering that everyone wants free reign to hit your wallet repeatedly these days, I’d be broke if I did everything like this. Many, many features are locked behind the paywall, including availability and even having more than 15 on the roster. But even if you pay, your roster is still capped at 25 until you go up yet another tier. Notifications are buggy - you usually have to click out of the screen you’re on to reset them because ads are generated when you change screens.
TL;DR - they’re the best around. Unfortunately they know it. When I have more than 15 players I use an alternative and just live with it.
Great app with one flaw they clearly are choosing not to fix
PROs: This app is great. Easy to add teams from multiple sports to organize practices, games, field locations, notes, etc. Also seamless integration with Applemaps or Waze (dependent on team manager putting right gps location into teamsnap). Ability to view schedule by sport, or across all teams for an overview of all the sports-related shuttling you have to plan around for the next month is indispensable. I literally cannot think of any way to make it more efficient to manage multiple kids in multiple sports.
CON: it is great to be able to share files as attachments to team communications (documents, pictures of the team, etc.). This can only be done via computer, not tablet or mobile device. This is absurd in the year 2018. Every app on every mobile device has seamless ability to take a picture and attach to whatever communication is being sent.
If anyone minding the shop cares about the customer experience, someone in the brain-trust at Teamsnap will put someone on a project to add this feature, and in 6 Months we’ll all enjoy it.
Good, but Photo viewer needs work.
This is a very popular easy to use team app. Have used it for years on many teams. One nice feature is the photo sharing ability built in under the “media’ tab. They include a generous amount of space and you can upload full-res photos which can then be shared by team members. The one downside is viewing. The standard viewer is 4x6, and it does not support using keyboard arrows like windows and other apps to scroll through the pictures. Instead you have to click the little next or previous arrows above the pick. Very monotonous and uncomfortable. Even more annoying is if you want to see the full size image you can click on the picture, but there are no controls to go to the next (or previous) pic! And since they don’t support keyboard direction keys, you have to figure out for yourself what to do. Which is hit your browser back button to take you back to the previous screen.
Hard to believe something so simple (yet important) to basic functionality was overlooked. Hopefully they’ll add it soon.
Total Noob with TeamSnap but feels like a lot is missing
Kind of new to TeamSnap and unlike the concept but there are some oddities. We got an email from a team manager but there is no button to reply to the email and no way to add attachments? At least not on an iPhone 12 Max Pro. That seems odd for 2021. Maybe in 1994 that would be okay but today? Also, I feel like I get so many notifications from the app and it’s not clear why. Email, text, one for my Non-player account (I.e. parent) and one for my 5 year old. Also, when a manager invites people the onboarding workflow is kind of lame. It asks you for a password you haven’t yet setup and you have to do a password reset instead of prompting you to register properly and set one up. Overall, it feels like non-software developers made this app or just devs that are not actually users of their own app. I could go on and on about UI/UX but it’s only been a week on the app. Again, the concept is admirable and the need is there. Just not very good execution. The ads are also annoying. If you pay $9.99 which is what Disney + costs I shouldn’t be seeing ads. That is weak sauce.
Great but customization lacking for $99
The app is great and love the simplicity, but if you’re going to restrict customization that most of the free apps offer for free, it shouldn’t be so limited. I paid the $99 (PER TEAM) to upgrade for the sole purpose of customizing to make it easier to flip between the multiple teams I manage and more visibly see which one I’m working on, but there isn’t a lot of customization and most of it is only visible on the website, which I’ll rarely use. The app is the whole point and honestly, it’s a more than a bit ridiculous I just paid $99 per team to allow me to put my logo on the team, which all other apps I’ve used or looked at offer for FREE. I don’t need any of the other features in that price point. Basic customization should be free and should be visible in the app, not just the website. These are easy enhancements and I hope TeamSnap will consider offering them, and at the lower price points (including the free version).
Best app ever for Teamsports
Great app. Spend the money on the full access and get your team on board to only communicate to through one app. If you really get parents and players on board, it will remove a lot of communication problems, drama, and repeated questions. You do need one person to really make sure all info is communicated once then the system will send a reminder. Encourage all players and parents to use app on their phones. When a question arises, refer them there. All players can get email from site. No more asking manager for it. Can separate messages to certain players. No more long strings of reply all. Have your players mark availability and no more questions of where is coming or not. Have a player that is sick, not it in there availability. Beat thing is parents can subscribe to calendar and it will import to their calendar. No more manual inputs. If manager change game Love this app!
Westhampton Subdivision, City of Clarkson Valley, Sewer & Water Utilities
Our subdivision is 52+ years old. Piping for sewer drainage and storm sewers drainage has never been replaced, corrected to date. Attention between City of Clarkson Valley, Westhampton Subdivision , MSD Sewer, and Missouri Water is needed by the residents -
(whom pay subdivision fees, taxes, utility bills, and insurance )
please note :Water Company says funding is on HOLD for restructuring and replacement common ground storm sewer?
Are the 95+ homes in our subdivision ( and the trustees representing us ) aware of this issue ? Finding (with stipulations) homeowners paying $28 yearly Assessment Tax to City of Clarkson Valley is only for lateral sewer problems OFF our property?
Missouri Water & MSD continue (with no resolve or involvement) to deny responsibility to update storm sewers traffic from Kettington, through our common ground, to the Trowbridge main. The unresolved, most assuredly will bring down property values over time if not repaired. Besides the numerous water shut-downs and nail biting flash flood storms to endure.
Good-ish. Two gripes/suggestions
Conceptually TeamSnap (and its competitors) is good. I like the interface. But two things annoy me and they are easy fixes to my mind. Note that I experience TS as a coach (paid account) and regular user for teams I don’t coach.
1. Ad-free experience. I’m willing to pay for an ad-free experience because the type of ads TS runs are truly annoying. The problem is, the e-mail address I use for TS isn’t the same as my AppleID, meaning buying the ad-free experience doesn’t work. TS should have a way to go ad-free in this era if multiple e-mail addresses. In other words I *can’t pay TS to be ad-free, yet I’m willing to. I expect some of this is a function of the AppStore, but if I can buy TS subscription (as a coach) outside the AppStore let me do the same for the ad-free experience. This is no different than streaming service ad-free options.
2. Communication Options: Dear God simplify this. Also, adding functionality like polling for availability and attachments seem like easy “features” to add.
Enhancement please
The chat feature is great however it would be really nice if we could have multiple chats with the same people in them. We talk about many things over chat and sometimes the thread gets all intermixed between what we’re trying to talk about. So a chat for each topic would be great but we can’t have more than one with the entire team on it. You can only create multiple chats if different combinations of people are on them. Having a way to do chats with the same people but multiple chat windows so that they were based on different topics would be awesome. If that can’t be accomplished is there a way to add chats into an event so that when you go in the event you can go to the chat for that event and then see the things that are chatting about specific to that event.
There are better apps.
We have used several of these apps in the past. The team we took over was familiar with this one so we continued it. Team snap charged a premium fee to see who would be at the games, fine. Paid the fees. The fees were twice what our favorite app costs but offered less features. Whatever.
The deal breaker was that I tried to cancel right after my membership renewed for our final month so the membership wouldn’t renew after the season was over. They immediately rip away all the benefits you already paid a month ahead on and you can’t use the services you paid for. This is shady business practice and a potential class action lawsuit. You have to continue to pay for this membership up until the day you are done using it and then hopefully remember to cancel. They are absolutely counting on you to take a month or two to remember to cancel this membership. And they offer zero refunds if you are a day late on cancellation. We would have probably stayed with them another season or two if this last part hadn’t occurred.
Love it!
We’ve been using team snap for several years now! I love it! I love that it has updated throughout the years. With the updates I do have some suggestions… 1. With the invoices we had a problem on where our athletes were only able to view their invoice. Their parents we not able to view them unless the looked on their child account. If there was a way to make it so the parents could see them on their account that’d be awesome!! 2. When uploading pictures to an album we can only pick one at a time. I’d love if we could upload more then one at a time. I have some parents who take tons of pictures so uploading one at a time is a little annoying. Other then those 2 things I love it! If I could I’d do a 4.5 on the stars I would! And the .5 is honestly because of the 2 things I said earlier. But honestly I love this app tons! Highly highly recommend it!!
Fix Refresh Issues
Recently for each game, refresh issues are serious. The RSVP are not refreshed. It’s happening from last 30 days or so. In the previous versions, pull down used to show dotted circle as progress for downloading new data. With current version, even after repeated pull down it doesn’t refresh. You log out and log in and data is still stale for list of players. It’s very painful as you have to use web browser to review games RSVPs to make decisions about declarations of the games with the list of current players. It’s irritating. Please fix this issue. I like TeamSnap as it makes organizers life easier and we pay for ultimate subscription. If I have to really ask for new feature set, it will be various styles of polls for collecting feedback, ratings and input. Single choice and multiple choices polls. It will be very helpful as organizers can gather data for many topics related to events and sports. Thank you keep the good work and stabilize this product.
Disappointing Experience
TeamSnap has been a disappointing experience. Unfortunately, the app consistently encounters errors, making it unreliable for accessing important information. Many tabs within the app frequently appear blank, hindering our ability to navigate and utilize its features effectively. Even basic functions like team chat suffer from significant delays, impacting timely communication.
Despite investing in the paid version, these persistent errors remain unresolved, leaving me frustrated and removing the subscription. While everyone can understand that technical issues can arise, the decline in app quality has been evident. Rebooting, refreshing, and even logging out and back in have proven ineffective in resolving these problems.
As a platform widely adopted by our team, it’s disheartening to witness the deteriorating performance of TeamSnap. I hope the developers address these issues promptly and restore the app’s reliability, as it plays a vital role in managing our team’s activities.
The badge notification is not working
I don’t know why but recently after the update I show that I have five unread messages when I check my messages I don’t have any unread messages. When I get new messages it just adds on from the five that won’t go away other than that before it was a pretty good app but this is quite annoying to me now at the point debating on just deleting it and figuring out from his teammates what’s going on because I don’t like unread notification showing on my phone.
Update
First issue fixed itself after I sent in my review. However I’m still over this app they canceled practice four hours prior to practice I have no notification in my phone from the app. I check to make sure all my notifications are on and they are. I have to open the app to see that they canceled practice so I drove all the way out of the way to just drive back home for nothing. My plan is to find another app for them to use to tell them they need to start using that one because I’m over it
Outstanding!!!!
I just started coaching this year 7&8 year old boys soccer. I was emailing the team parents all info that was needed for each game and practice. Then trying to figure out who was coming and who couldn’t make the games/practices. This app allows me to set a schedule with all info needed for each game/practice. Now the parents can just open the app and have everything right in front of them. The app also has a health check, which our rec league requires a log of all kids and coaches that may have been in contact with anyone exposed with COVID. Now they log in before each game and practice and answer a few questions and then I can export it to the league officials.
I highly recommend this app for any type of team sports.
DON’T PAY EXTRA for TeamSnap
You know how casinos make it so that while you’re in there, you can’t figure out what time of day it is and they sort of hide the exits which makes it harder to leave so that they can take more of your money? That’s kind of how TeamSnap is.
Once you give them a credit card, you can never remove that credit card from your account. And if you make the mistake of signing up and paying for some extra feature, they will keep billing you over and over again until you happen to get lucky and find the place on their website where you can cancel your subscription.
GameChanger has all the same features and you can livestream, so I think the only reason why people still use TeamSnap is because they were the first and people don’t know that there are better team management solutions out there.
Love You Developers!
TeamSnap as an App is great at what it does. We’ve used it for our daughters sports ranging from Softball and Volleyball to Basketball and Soccer. It’s awesome. The communication and schedule sharing changes the way you interact as a Coach and a Parent.
But, behind this incredible App are the true heroes....the Developers! I don’t know them, but I feel like I do. As a software developer myself, I feel like we’re best friends already. If you have this App installed and an update becomes available, I implore you to read the release notes that go along with said update. They are humorous and good natured, and offer a glimpse into the fun and joy that the developers put into making this great App for the world.
Thank you TeamSnap Developers! Whoever you are, wherever you are...
Good app, needs to streamline message options
I’ve used this app for 3 seasons girls softball teams and it’s great - keeps team organized and parents informed. The thing that keeps it from getting 5 stars are the (too many) Messages options:
Email doesn’t support reply all. You send an email out and it’s one and done. If you want to update that email, you have to compose a new email.
Posts (Message Board) do not have attachment option. It would be helpful to pin a post at top with an important attachment so parents can refer back easily (instead of wading through emails).
Alerts are confusing. I received a few alerts from a parent thinking it was sent to the whole team when it was just to me.
Team Chat. I have no idea if everyone has seen a chat I’ve put out or if they even know how to access on their mobile phone app. People don’t tend to reply to chats, I think because it looks generic and you have no idea who’s reading - is it grandma, parent or friend who signed up kid?
It would be great if your product team created a messaging option akin to a group text like whatsapp, where the user opts in a cell phone number and name to be used in a group where we can exchange messages, photos or attachments. This would replace team chat.
Needs more up-to-date tech
There should definitely be an option to edit messages once they are sent in group chats or private messages. As I coach I am always thinking of so much stuff and juggling everything so I make mistakes then have to send multiple messages to correct my original text.
There should also be a section to see coaches availability for practices. I hate that they have to text me on my actual cell number when they won’t come to practice. I should be able to see my asst coaches availability right next to the girls availability on events.
I shouldn’t have to add an email for each girl I want to add to the roster. When I have guest players for one weekend I want to be able to visually add a girl to my roster and manually add her availability to the event/game so I know how many girls I have including the guest player. I don’t want to have to make the parent have access to all parent communication and schedule info.
You should make in an option to delete posts on the app and not having to log on a computer to do so. I am paying the monthly subscription just to have access to availability but these recommendations should really be considered. Teamsnap is becoming quite annoying and I am really missing GameChanger right now.
So frustrated with this app
This app came highly recommended and I’ve used it for about six months now but I’m not in love with it. I’ve had to resort to other apps to send messages to my team because through the Phone app I cannot send attachments. It is so frustrating, & time consuming, that I have to wait until I get home & log into my computer to send a file or pictures to my team. Most of the time I need to send a file or a picture while I’m out and I can’t do it from the app on my phone. I have even tried going in through Safari or Google on my phone and logging into my Team Snap & I still cannot attach a file or pic.
Also when I do send an attachment in a message from my computer my parents using the phone app cannot see that attachment when they look at their messages & have to go to their email or log into it from their computer.
Another huge plus I have found with the other app is that I can schedule emails or alerts to go out at a certain date & time and that I have found is such a huge help for a busy team parent/coach.
If you could make these improvements he would make this so much more user-friendly. Especially for on the go busy people. There are some great aspects to this app but these few things are pretty important and without them I won’t be using this again next season. Thx!!
Could be better
Our club has used this app for years. It does the job but could be better. The constant notifications when a coach doesn’t shut-off notify team are very annoying. It would be great if everyone had the option of choosing what notifications they get and how they get them. I don’t need 50 emails and a ding from the app when schedules are being updated. Also, the postgame report notification shouldn’t be a notification when results aren’t even submitted. It’s just another unnecessary alert! There are several small things that could be done to make this app more user friendly and appealing to people. Things like invoicing, tracking, and health check should have the option to be shut off if they aren’t used, it would help with “cleaning up” the look of the screen.
Please fix this promising app
First off, the concept of this app is great. Our team really uses all aspects of it. That being said, the programmers really need to fix the many bugs in the program. Such as: if you update/change a photo using the browser version, the iOS app doesn’t not update or sync. The only way to get this to happen is to delete the iOS app and re-download it. Then the new info is there. This needs to be done every time there is an info change via the browser version. Also, when uploading a photo with the required specs, the app still chops off the players heads. The only work around I found was putting a large border around the photo, so the crop wouldn’t cut off most of the picture. I would love to give this app 5 stars, but it is beyond frustrating to get things to sync up between devices. If I’m missing something here, I’d love to know a short cut rather than deleting the app and re-downloading it. Please fix “what could be a great" app!
Decent. Needs a few tweaks
I’ve managed two teams using TeamSnap. It’s a pretty useful tool for team communication.
Here are my asks:
- We need a fields for pronouns for everyone: players, coaches, and families. Also, more gender options than “male” and “female.”
- Mobile phone document sharing. I’m not the first to say it. That request has been around since 2018, at least.
- Fix the alerts. Families frequently don’t get notifications, and it’s not their phone settings. I’ve checked. On my phone, an iPhone, I have badges turned on, but TeamSnap rarely displays a badge alert when I have a new chat message. I don’t see any sign of there being a new message until I’m in the chat window itself. I usually only know via sound alerts. Occasionally a badge alert shows up, but not often. Would be nice to see it fixed.
So handy as a first-year team manager
A parent recommended this app to me to use, and I’m so glad! I’ve appreciated having options to track some basic stats for our U-8 team, and the app has really helped keep everything in one place. Looking forward to seeing a couple very small enhancements come to the app, and appreciate some of the extra control adjustments in desktop view. I’d recommend this app to other parents helping support teams, and am already considering volunteering at team manager again next time. Spreadsheets feel archaic when compared to this app. 👍🏻
Used to love the app, but not since they changed look
With multiple teams for multiple kids, this has always been a great tool. However now it defaults to the last team I was viewing and then when you go to the home viewer it has create a new team as the top pick. How often is someone creating a new team versus looking at their team. The old look was much more user friendly-open the app and pick the team I need to view. Also, not sure how you can fix the multiple accounts per team. I have an account, but when my child is created by the coach they get an account, so when There are alerts there are multiple views I have to do. I like the fact that at least now I can go In and clear the extra alerts via a drop down at the top, but just wish I didn’t have two accounts per team.
Terrible user experience & mystery machine
This is one of those apps that you have no choice to use and therefore forced to live with no matter how crappy the user experience is. I am a coach and find this mostly frustrating and largely useless outside of schedule and roster, which could be accomplished with a Google Doc. The notifications are absolutely worthless…an alert pops up. I can only see the first 5-6 words and when I press on it I get taken to a place in the app that gives me ZERO information on what the notification about. Nothing in alerts, chats or other section that connect to that notification. Absolutely terrible design. Did the developers even do any player/coach user testing? Probably not…the fees come from club administrators so imagine that is where whoever runs this company has directed their focus be on. I will be recommending a different app to my club going forward.
Good, but some glitches
I’ve been using TeamSnap for about 4 years for our team of 100+. It’s good for organizing and communicating with the following caveats. Over the past several months, my iPhone app will not load the chat. It just gives a spinning circle on a black screen until I offload and reload the app. Then it works for a few days before glitching out again. This bug has me ready to abandon the app completely for communication. Second, despite paying a significant amount for our team, it does not allow us to have more than 50 people in a sub chat. Again, I am considering abandoning the app for this reason. Finally, it does not allow you to add or remove people from existing chats. This is not a deal breaker, but it is pretty annoying.
Still needs tweaks to make it a viable player
This app is not bad, but it’s far from great. There are a couple updates I’d like to see in the very near future that would at least bump it up.
1) Please, please, please make it so we can heart or like a message in the chat. Right now it’s borderline unbearable because the only way you know the group has seen your message is if the type a reply. Also, important to note if this update is made...if someone likes your comment, only the person who made the comment would get a push notification. Everyone should be able to see who liked it and the number of likes a comment has received.
2) Allow folks to get notifications when someone makes a new Post (not in messages, Post) and when a reply to a post is made. And please allow pictures in posts. This would really helpful when trying to coordinate selling Football squares or other fundraisers. I like the idea of having a place for Posts, to keep information consolidated and keep the Messages clean...but if the group doesn’t get notified via push notification for posts and replies to posts...it’s pretty useless.
I really hope the developers read this and make these updates. I know it would go a long way with this user!
Ad nauseam
My second review. I hope lots of users read this and ask their team managers to abandon this platform. Sure, they lured in users with some well executed features, but it seems the plan was bait and switch. Not only do they charge a usage fee for the team management, but they abuse the team participants with advertisements on every click, and are charging a crazy fee for an ad free experience. It’s one step short of extortion. I used to love this app, now I hate it. I hope the owners of this company crash and burn on what appears to be a money grab IPO start-up play. Your greed is detestable. How about fewer features and an ad free experience. I mean do parents really need real time score when they are on the sidelines watching the game. Shameless commercialism. Vote with you wallet and put these money grubbers out of business. Ask your coach to find a new app. There are others out there who are not exploiting you and your kids.
Start forcing you to buy in-app monthly fee to use the functions that was free previously.
Start forcing you to buy in-app monthly fee to use the functions that was free previously. Great app and have been using for all my kids soccer scheduling, messaging, update.. free to use with ads, but now some of the functions that was free is not. TeamSnap is forcing you to use in-app functions, for example, listing of all teams schedule. Very useful function to know the weekend games that are happening for multiple teams, now not free anymore. Gave one star because I am not a fan of company doing sham stuff like this. What else will they be charging in the future, forcing you to buy a monthly plan. I hope parents, clubs, teams, and etc.. will realize this and start using other teams apps, free with ads is okay with me.. TeamSnap, since you grown and more accounts opening, it time to get greedy?
**Avoid TEAMSNAP for your club's parent communication needs!**
My experience with TEAMSNAP has been disappointing and frustrating. While the initial cost might seem reasonable, be prepared for a constant stream of advertisements that they bombard your parents with, trying to squeeze even more money from them.
On top of that, the support provided by TEAMSNAP is subpar, leaving us feeling stranded whenever we encountered issues or needed assistance. The number of bugs and problems we've faced has been beyond imagination, making it difficult to rely on the app for smooth and efficient communication.
Considering the numerous alternatives available, I highly recommend looking elsewhere for a parent communication tool that offers a more user-friendly and hassle-free experience. Your club deserves a platform that prioritizes effective communication without any intrusive ads or technical difficulties.
New UI update terrible
I am a diehard TeamSnap user and really loved (and relied on) this the app for many years... until recently. Ads being placed within schedules while updating availability is beyond annoying, and this week’s UI overhaul is awful. I have to tap and click in too many places now, whereas before the app was simple and clean, with a single click on an icon instead of several clicks within drag down menus. Because of these changes, I now have to search for my kids’ multiple teams, and then search for the functions within their TeamSnap site, which has made this app more time consuming. Worse yet, I don’t see teammates updating their availability regularly anymore, probably because of
this bad update. Please go back to a simpler, cleaner, and time saving way of navigating this app ... and get rid of ads in scheduling update sections!
Almost a good app.
This is the third year I have used this app. Initially I didn’t like it. Then I kind of liked it. Now. I won’t use it next year when setting up my teams. One. I pay for it but still get advertising in my space. Second. The messaging system is subpar. It would be better if it just allowed texting and no Email. Email is for grandmas. I feel as though the developers are 20 somethings with no kids in sports. And if they do have kids. Don’t actually coach or organize youth sports. I have baseball teams. Basketball ball teams. And run a tee ball division of little league. Switching to another app. Also. The App and the website don’t talk. I have tried to retire teams. But they keep showing up on my app version. Also. I can’t retire teams that have been set up by others. Why can’t I have the power on deleting teams? There are better apps
Needs a lot of work / paying for extra services that don’t work
This app is good at first, but once you start getting into the meat of using it the problems arise. No badge icon to notify of new posts, alerts, etc... Additionally the supposed easy notifications do not work half of the time and I end up with players/ parents who are uninformed. The worst part about it is that you don’t see any of these flaws until you have paid for the extra options, which don’t work. Good luck trying to get assistance as well, as you may receive an email reply a week or so after you fill out the online help request. Yes that’s right, you can’t talk to or chat with a human being in real time, unless you pay extra for that also. Get with the times and update your apps capabilities or you will be losing users nonstop.
Ads for teams I don’t own, even though I have a paid subscription
This app is great for coaches and managers. We pay for the subscription and feel that it’s worth it. What I don’t like is the ads. They aren’t on the team I manage. But now I have to pay to eliminate ads on teams I’m a member of but don’t own? Even though I already have a paid subscription to the app? Sorry, that’s a crap way of sneaking in ads regardless.
The new features on the app are nice, but aren’t universal between the mobile app and the desktop. It is really hard to set lineups on my phone. All of the heavy lifting (scheduling, rostering, etc) is done on a laptop. And the chat feature is only available on the mobile. It would be helpful to have that functionality across platforms.
Advertising
The advertising on this app is so inconsistent that I’m surprised Apple allowed it. Unlike most other apps, advertising is disruptive to work flow here. Instead of it taking a corner of the screen, it invades the whole screen and disrupts work flow. And getting out of each ad is not consistent. Some have a small hidden X on the top hidden that you need to find to click out. Others have a “close” button to click at the bottom of the screen. Not a uniform experience. I bet all the ad clicks is not because of interest but rather the sudden disruption of the user. This subscription culture is also greedy. No one likes subscriptions. I would pay $15 to buy this app once as I know I have to use it for over a decade with kids sports. But I refuse to pay a monthly fee. Especially if I’m being manipulated to do so because my experience of the app is being affected in purpose.
Decent app but one major flaw - Video upload
I can list pros and cons, but I look past a lot of the cons such as everything costs to manage a team properly where as there are other free apps that do the same. I have 4 teams and tempted to move all of them back to the previous app I was using.
Biggest problem is the video upload. You cannot upload videos from the app, everything is via computer and using URLs. Not very smart in 2024 when coaches and parents are always on the go, don’t always have access to a computer to upload or view videos. I was trying to share a few clips with my players, gave up, not worth the effort. TEAMSNAP, please fix this and get with the modern times.
Awful!
I have no idea why this app is rated so highly! It's awful. I've only been using it about a month and I've already deleted and reloaded it once, and I'm about to do it again. It takes forever to load, freezes constantly, and there are so many ads! (Yes, I'm trying to use the free version. Maybe that's the problem.) The home screen never actually seems to load, so I just go to the schedule, but half the time that won't load either. It's incredibly frustrating! (I also typically get two emails, at the same time and to the same address, with every “update” to the team's schedule. I don't know if that's something the coaches set up wrong, or a problem with the app, but it's really annoying.) I'll be ready for this sport to be done just so I can delete the app and not have to mess with it anymore.
Time TBD functionality needs to change
When an event’s time is TBD the app automatically creates a 24 hours event that blocks your calendar from 12am that day until 11:59pm that evening. This is terrible calendar etiquette. All other calendar platforms (Apple, outlook, gmail, yahoo, and countless other team apps) create an “all day event”. Which functions differently. If you look at your calendar in a schedule view, it places it in the all day section instead of a 24 hour block that cannot be read. You can still mark yourself busy with an all day event so nothing else is scheduled. But your behavior creates a 24 hour block that cannot be viewed easily from a schedule view. For parents in corporate that live by their calendars, this behavior is incredibly inconvenient.
Probably my least favorite app
Man, where do I start? The fact that you haven’t made it easy to see multiple kids’ schedules is so frustrating. And the drop down shows some obscure team name so I can’t even tell which kid is which when I need to switch between them. Also your ads are perfectly timed to make every quick task I need to do annoying. I’m not using the app because I want to, I’m using it because my league made me. I’m never going to upgrade for such a bad experience so maybe tone it down on the ads. Also the explore tab is a complete waste of space. The only thing I use the app for is to check the schedule. Why wouldn’t that be the landing tab? And why does it take 5 clicks to get google maps launched?? 5 clicks!! Why can’t this be an action I can take without clicking into an event?
Mountain biking
I’m 14 and mountain bike, now in my years of playing sports since five this is a great way to communicate considering that communication was extremely difficult through sending emails and texts and waiting on them, but with team snap they update almost instantly which makes your team so much more aware of what’s going on for things such as, practice, events, and even a team mix up. I will recommend this to anyone who coaches, cause the kids will find it a lot better to use this type of technology instead of their parents telling them!
terrible customer care
Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Earlier this baseball season my family was locked out of this application. Since then we haven’t been able to access our game schedule or changes.
The VOLUNTEER coaches have tried multiple times to help us out to no avail. We’ve sent several emails to customer service without a single response other than one laughable miscommunication.
I was contacted by marketing because they mistakenly assumed I was a company looking to purchase their service. The moment the woman realized the mistake she quickly gave me the support email address and hung up. Said support doesn’t reply and I’m still relying on the kindness of strangers in the form of new teammates’ parents and volunteer coaches to update me every time there’s a change in either of my kids’ schedules.
Accounts Not Found Issue - Deceitful Tactics
Woke up Saturday morning to find all 3 of children’s teams were deleted from our accounts. Went through troubleshooting and had TeamSnap tell us that we must have deleted our team. A parent from our team was also told that we deleted the team. We aren’t the administrator for 2 of the teams and have no access to delete. Finally after much back and forth, TeamSnap was able to reinstate one of the teams after telling us that it was not possible. I like the app (except for the abundance of ads even through we pay for ad free), but not being truthful about the problems and blaming the user when there is clearly a problem is inexcusable. Own your problems and work to fix them. We’ll be looking at other apps for next season.
User friendly
App is super user friendly.
I do wish I could find a team without being invited to or organizing it. Website is a little frustrating as well. There are past teams my kids have been on that I cannot get rid of and they will forever be imbedded on the app. There are notifications that are on some past teams that I cannot get rid of so the annoying little orange dot above the app always says 4. Maybe I’m old and care about not having a cluttered looking Home Screen but for the love, let me delete the teams from 3 or more years ago.
That being said it is easy to upload schedules to my calendar and that is nice when there are 3 kids and 6+ teams.
Solid Sports Management App with Annoying Bug
This is a fantastic app for managing your sports teams. I love how easy it is to manage schedules, track activities such as registrations, track availability and communicate with the team or individuals.
The only reason I didn’t give this app 5 stars is due to an annoying bug. When I’m typing a post, alert, message, or in the notes field of an event, the app completely crashes. I lose all information that was previously typed before the crash. I created two events and typed one alert this morning. The app crashed with each. Hopefully this is something easy to fix.
