This app is so bad. The only reason I use it is because my golf club decided to force us to use it for events and registration. You can never find events and leader boards. I can’t understand why anyone would think it was any good.

General play error
New app design has a major flaw in the general play section. I started a round, put my scores in. Swiped off the app and re-opened it. Now it won’t take me to my round & if I click on general play it won’t let me go there because one is already in progress but won’t let me access it. I’ve explored the whole app. Should at least have a section somewhere to say continue round or something.

Meaning to say Golf Genius professes to be the leading Golf System management company it is badly let down by this app. Every member of our club is complaining, some have stopped entering Competitions as it JUST TOO DIFFICULT to use, gets stuck on the last competition viewed. You need 5 key strokes to achieve anything. Cannot see Tee sheets after registering.Its about time they listened to feedback and redesign this thing instead of just saying contact our chat line. Useless.

My club has just changed to this app to book in for our competitions but it is absolutely awful, unable to give it no stars or I would have done. Half the time it misses tee sheets the process is long winded it’s just stupid. I wish they’d go back to intelligent golf was much better

Poor App
This app is so frustrating. It just doesn’t work probably at all. It can’t even get all the scores right in a competition. Even the most basic things it seems to mess up. Our club did have IG which was easy to use and accurate. I’m not particularly old and have trouble using app, our senior golfers are really struggling to make sense of it all. App definitely needs some work on it to sort all the errors and inconsistencies.

I never write reviews… im normally the person who reads a bad review and thinks ‘that’s a bit harsh’ however I have to say that this is the worst app I have ever used.
It’s so counter intuitive, I’ve been using it for over 12 months and still have significant problems, just today we have been trying to book into medals with great difficulty.
We have a WhatsApp group of 20 people and not one person has a positive view on this app, which is a real shame as we all really got on with Intelligent golf.
I understand that there are many additional benefits to this software over IG and alike, however in the app form it really, really doesn’t work.
I would be happy to collate specifics if fix’s could be made.
Needs more work
We are now using this for county events. Some members are happy to use them and others not. However the app still requests scores from all the group where only one of the group want to use the mobile app. This can be done by ignoring adding the other scores but nothing at the end to confirm scores etc. Needs to be improved like HDID where each player adds their own score only
Poor functionality
An unreliable app which is extremely difficult to see and record scores on when playing on a bright sunny day. The contrast levels are too poor and improvement of the presentation is required urgently!!
Poor implementation
This App, forced on golfers by their club, is extremely unpopular among the members at my club. Finding your way around it is lacking in any intuitive logic, made worse by a total absence of a user guide or a “help” button. It’s un-reliable, and frequently denies access even to regularly used features such as registering for a competition and score entry. Our pro-Shop staff are already overloaded with work, and are constantly being distracted by frustrated members asking them to input our scores or sign up for forthcoming competitions because the app isn’t responding on our phones or tablets.
Using app for 2 players on w phones not working
My wife and I have the same Apple ID and it appears to prevent both of us being able to use the Golf Genius app on our respective iPhones. I am registered, so it works for me, but it's impossible to bring up a separate registration screen on my wife's phone for her.

Poor Handling of Scrambles
If a player drops out of a 4-person scramble team, the team handicap index goes DOWN in Golf Genius. In what universe does that make sense? Why would a 3 person team give up more strokes to the full teams?
GG blames the USGA by stating that they are following USGA guidelines. That's incorrect. GG implemented the USGA calculation for a 3 person scramble tournament into their calculation for a missing person in a 4 person scramble. Not the same thing boys and girls.
I've had a series of chats/email with GG support. After several times repeating their canned response to this obviously repeat question, one support staff told me he'd escalate the issue. I heard nothing back.
Our leagues have had to work around by giving mulligans to 3-person teams. Still a sore spot in league play and a constant critique of Golf Genius by members.

Too many restarts resigning in, repeat need for passwords. Just a dismal failure.

This app needs a standalone watch app for kids that don’t have phones and can still enter the scores on their watch.
Bring a battery charger
Overall the app works very well. The main problem is that it will completely drain the battery in your Apple Watch over a four hour round and put a significant dent in your phone battery as well.
There are other options out there that work pretty much the same, don't kill your battery and cost a lot less.
Swipe
Ever since the new update every time I swipe to the leaderboard and swipe back to the scoring I get the instructions about how to do it. This is very ignoring. Is there a way to turn this off or opt out of this screen.
ID?
Having to have an ID makes the app cumbersome at best. And at worst, useless. There are more user friendly apps available for scoring.

Handicap calculator doesn’t work
The course handicap calculator doesn’t work for a handicap index less than 10.0. Keep getting an error message asking to enter an index value between +9.9 and 54.0. Also, on the iPhone, can’t locate the + sign on the keyboard.
Get rid of "Swipe between "
For the love of god would you get rid of the "Swipe between the Scoring and Leaderboard screens" prompt. It requires an extra tap to dismiss it *every single time* we switch views. Or at least provide a "don't show this again" checkbox.

Our league uses this app and website for our league and tournaments. It’s ok for the tournaments but the portal is confusing and always a challenge to get anywhere. I get the tournament ID on the app but why do you need it just to access the portal. If I have a login let me access all my league’s information. I never have access to the information I need without codes and more codes. I wish they would simplify access and quit making it so difficult to use. I use apps for everything in my life and for some reason this is the only one that is a challenge to use. It’s just a golf app.

This app could be so great, but it needs a lot of improvement for usability. Trying to use this to navigate things like league standings and such is so tedious. Trying to use this on a phone is also hard as they have no optimization for portrait so choice is a lot of side scrolling with no frozen columns (so don’t forget what row you are looking at) or have to use in landscape.
It is nice to have live scoring, but hopefully a lot of effort is going into making it easier to navigate and use.

Mostly Great
Our club started using Golf Genius and after a bit of resistance, most have embraced it. I love it for scoring and mid tournament management.
I do not love it for event registration. The font for invites and announcements is tiny and golfers are mostly old. It makes me hate seeing a golf genius email. This seems like a simple fix.
One more thing. At the end of a tournament, the choices are review scores and score summary. Please edit one of these options to say: scores are turned in and you are finished and you can go have a drink. “Score summary” sounds like there are most steps to be done to turn in your card.
Golf Genius has helped our club and our staff and thanks.
Disable “Swipe to Scoring”
Please let us disable the “Swipe Left to Scoring” feature. It is unnecessary with the scoring button one inch above my thumb. We are constantly going to Scoring while reviewing a long list of scores after a round. One degree mistake left takes us to Scoring several times. Unnecessary.

This thing is junk. Same as others have said. I sign in to the website and it works fine and I’m able to see my league. Using the same exact credentials on the app and it shows that I’m not in any leagues or events. The app is garbage.

Beyond frustrating
I’ve used Golf Genius on iPhone for many years, not by choice but because it’s what our tournament organizers use. The Member Portal feature should be reimagined from scratch and entirely replaced. As it stand it’s a confusing jumble of random features with unclear navigation in the app and unhelpful error messages. It’s also ugly as heck and feels like a thin mobile app frame with embedded low-quality website UI content.

Barely functional app and website. No matter where you log in, it’s hard to see anything besides dates. The first day I used it I could get details to pop up for only the next event. Nothing else. Now that has broken too. Cannot see any details, only dates. Idk how anyone could use this without getting a major headache.

Unfortunately so many golf groups use this app. I just renewed my membership in a group. When I open golf genius it says I don’t belong to any group, events or organizations. Not only am I a member of the AGA but I also have joined the SAMGC.

Felt like pulling teeth to even get signed up. After getting signed up, did not appear on the tee sheets, reached out to their support email and received replies days later without any assistance whatsoever. Will see if they even process my refund. Don’t waste your time.

The app does not work for my phone, immediately crashes every time I try and open the app. I’ve deleted and reinstalled it several times and still nothing.
Sometimes it works… And often it doesn’t
So we’ve been using Golf Genius at our club for a while many years and just recently when I try to login with the same username same password I’ve had forever. It tells me no league info and then a little circle ball goes round around for five minutes. It doesn’t give me the option to login. So I deleted the app and then reinstalled the app and then it worked yesterday and now it doesn’t work today. If you guys are having an issue with your system, can you send out a blast email to everybody that’s registered and let us know that the stuff is not working. I’ve called our Golf Shop and they say they’ve had numerous members have the same problem. Fix it for God sakes.
Need Way To Reorganize Player Names
Love this app. My club has been using it for years. One thing I wish we could do is reorganize the player names in our foursome. Often we will have side games in our group and I’d love to be able to have the player names in the score entry screen mimic the player name order on our paper scorecard. There currently doesn’t seem to be a way to do that within the app. It would make it easier when using the paper scorecard to double check the scores entered in Golf Genius.
GG problems
I have had the app for 6 months and can’t use it. All I get is the wheel of death, round and round and round. Others can use it but it’s not compatible with the newest iPhone
This is what you get when it’s all you’ve got.
My men’s club uses golf genius to manage all of our tournament needs. It’s ok. It’s clunky. Either GG has poor training or lacks customer support, likely both. The app won’t let me access my club but the site will. My mens club board doesn’t know what’s going on and GG is nowhere to be found. I’ve deleted the app, reinstalled, shut my phone down, soft reset. Downloaded the app directly from the site where I’m logged in and accessing my club. Still nothing. Gonna be hard to track my tournament scores live as required by my club…
The error that continues to pop for me is “You are not part of any leagues / events / trips”. Inaccurate since I’m accessing my league with all the same login information.
Side note, it’s not the most user friendly when tracking your scores and summarizing your round at the end to balance to your official card. It’s fine in that aspect but is not exceptional.
User Thought
Yours is a great App. I use it 3 times weekly. My club uses it for Registration. There is a trigger (Pulled by unknown) that changes Registration to ‘Closed’. Okay so far. The problem is that a registrant cannot Cancel after Registration is Closed. Calling Pro Shop doesn’t always work. (Those guys are overworked.) It would seem being able to cancel at anytime would be a win for all stakeholders. Thanks for a great App.
Useful but hard to read on phone and computer
The app is neat when playing golf with groups and it's fun to see how different teams and players are doing in real time.
The only issue, which is significant, is that the font is often very small and hard to read on both the phone and desktop versions. The visual presentation of the app can be greatly improved. Golf Genius, please take a look at how Apple, for example, presents information - it's far more user friendly. You can easily make the app much better visually.

App is ok. We use it every week for our weekend games at the club (past three years or so for a group of 50+ golfers). It’s very messy when it comes to registration and cancellation. When I go to open tee times and confirm a spot, there is no way to take myself out of the tee sheet if something changes in my schedule or if it was a mistake. How difficult could it be to allow someone to cancel their own registration. We have several issues every week because of this. We’re now looking at other options that could do a better job.
Good app
The Golf Genius software offers a far more comprehensive selection of tournament opens and customizability than any other mobile golf scoring app.
One note, if your club/league did not purchase the premium version, you will not be able to use the app.
Support is also incredibly quick at getting back to you on a question.
Okay…when it works
This app is just okay when it works. It usually lags at least two holes behind and on some days it doesn’t work at all. Not a great thing for parents who didn’t get to make it to the tournament due to illness or injury but wanted to keep up with scoring. The final round is always very important but many times the app just doesn’t show up to play! Even with trying all the old tricks of turning the phone off, refreshing, etc., nothing helps. Maybe some “golf IT genius” could actually fix the bugs in this app so we could see what was going on with our kids!
Scoring Issue
I think the app does a good job. I like how it tracks player stats for my club. We use the app for scoring each week. One thing most of us struggle with is when we accidentally skip a hole when scoring—we enter hole 12’s scores in on hole 13. Then it throws off the whole scorecard. Messy. It would be great if the app could warn me that I skipped a hole before letting me save scores on the next hole (when trying to save scores on hole 13 it should let me know that no scores were entered on 12).
Great App
If you are playing in an event with mobile scoring, this is an easy-to-use and fun app. Also very easy to upload candid pictures of participants enjoying themselves at the Tournament. If you are viewing the portal from an iPad or device with a larger screen, it’s better just to use the portal accessed via your browser.
Frustrating
So frustrating to use. In a multi day event it never seems to default to the correct day. Always need to manually change it. And when scoring is open it always closes itself after a few seconds, and have to start the whole process over. Just about ruins the experience of following the golf.
Same issues for the last several years and no improvements.
Great app for following scores from far away
Love being able to follow scores while not at the tournament. Would be great if there was a way to save GGIDs. Also would be great if I could rename or tag GGID to be able to remember what tournament it was without having to open it. Make sense?
Golf Genius vs GHIN
I wonder why a handicap with Golf Genius is different from a handicap with GHIN. I have played over 60 rounds this year and have an 8.8 handicap with GHIN. Recently, I played in an “event” that utilized the Golf Genius app to compute the results. I normally play from between 5,800-6,200 yards. During this event, I played tees that were 6,500-6,700 yards. Yet, my handicap was reduced because I didn’t play from the tees that were actually behind the tees I played from.
Can’t even “Log out”
Having used Golf Genius in the past, I have used this year thus far. Once my account is/was logged in it auto logs me in. And then I recieve “No league Found” and the app continues to load indefinitely. Never letting me change anything. Have to fully delete the app just to open it and try to log in using the GGID portal instead of the email portal. This has caused many issues within tournaments. This year.
Great app
We use GG for our men’s club and it makes scoring across all the games we have so easy. It’s a little pricey but overall worth it.
Can’t log in
I’m playing on a tournament this week and we were directed to download the app. I must have used the app in the past but I’ve tried every email account I’ve ever had and no dice. In short, I am unable to register or reactivate a dormant account. Help?
Latest Update Problems
After the most recent update, I and several others at our club can no longer access GG app. Golf shop has reported it. What’s also troubling is that we have different messages and not everyone was affected. I receive the message about no leagues, events or trips. Not so! Yet, I have no trouble logging into husband’s acct on the same phone.

I work at a course and have login access to golf genius and I downloaded the app to use and I can not log in says I’m not part of any leagues, events or trips. I put in a GGID and get the same information. However if I go to the website on my phone the GGID works fine and so I’m not sure what the problem is. I love the program and would love to see how this end works to be able to have our golfers use this.
Please fix the Login window
This app is awesome except for one simple thing: the login window. When the keyboard pops up it covers the text and you can’t see what you are typing. Great app otherwise but the first impression is not good. Please FIX this!!!!
On scorecard screen scores impossible to read
This app primarily used by country clubs. Average age is probably high esp. in Fl. And Az. You can’t enlarge the screen to make it more readable and in the Fl. Sun it’s impossible to see. Make the scores larger or allow screen to be enlarged when viewing. Our eyes aren’t that good and there is no reason for this unless you get a perverse pleasure in punishing seniors!
Great app for competitions BUT
but pls fix the fact that you chat have multiple match IDS entered at once. You have to log out and log back in. A real pain! Otherwise it’s great for seeing everyone’s scorecards post app and easy to enter the scores on the spot
Login Screen
I’m new to using golf genius for our club events, but when I tried to enter scores it says to enter scores using the app while using iPad. I then go to the app and type in my GGID and it tells me I am not part of any events and won’t let me sign-in, but when I go to website and use the same GGID, it works just fine.
Spectator
It would be nice if I could follow my niece on this app. Every tournament she's in says to use this to see live scoring and the leaderboard but I have no credentials and there doesn't seem to be any way to register as a user without them.
Offline mode
I have an iPhone 11 and I continue to get a message that I have no internet connection and to continue in off line mode. I can enter scores, but sometimes it doesn’t register some of the scores. I cannot do anything else like view leaderboard or view scorecards
Cannot log in app for iOS
The app says I am not part of any leagues/ events/ trips when I try to enter either my GGID or email and password. I’ve deleted and reloaded app several times to no avail. Works great in web browser but not this app!!!! Arghhhhh
Can’t register from app.
Are you kidding? Downloaded app. How do you register? There is no way to get in without already signing up. Would be great, if there were directions on how to do so, but guess what? Nope!! Not even a link to a website. I’d give you zero stars if this would allow it.
Terrible app with outdated UI
Our league has switched to this app and honestly it’s awful. It’s very difficult to read leaderboards and results. It’s like it was made for a PC and then simply “wrapped” and distributed as an “app”. Lots of scrolling left to right and up / down to see any information.

Ironically, the only way I’m able to communicate with Golf Genius is via the Write A Review link on the App Store Golf Genius sign-up page.
Been trying to login for 2 days, and keep getting this error message: “An error has occurred. Please try again.” Then, when I click the App Support link, it takes me to an error page that says Forbidden Action.
I deleted and reinstalled the app and the exact same problems occurred.
Hopefully Golf Genius will take this as a tech support review and help me resolve the matter.
Good app but heavy battery drain
Consistently drains battery at excessive rate even though location services off and only entering scores then immediately locking screen off. 4 hours match drains iPhone X 50% or more.
Constantly boots you out of leaderboard
Thanks for response. No way to recreate situation that happened at US Kids World event though. According to US Kids it sounds like app was overwhelmed by incredibly large number of players in field entering scores. Went away from live scoring for rest of tournament.
Rarely works seamlessly
It is a fine app when it works but not very intuitive. If you go to another course to play it really throws golf genius off. Even after logging out the app cannot believe I am not at the other golf course.
